About Us

The Battye Library of Western Australia history information is that Bullock Hills was recorded on maps prior to 1895, and a track to Bullock Hills was recorded in May 1904.

The book Dumbleyung and Districts Pictorial, 2003 also makes mention of Bullock Hills and gives certain credit to the following tale.

We have followed up with the Battye Library, Department Of Land Administration and with a police historian to find out if the following tale is correct.

The answer by all is that they can neither confirm nor deny the report; but it can be called local folklore and hence the naming.

"Bullock teams were used around that time rather than horses to haul out sandalwood. One night, a team of drovers with bullocks spent the night at the base of the Bullock Hills to rest and water the animals. During the night, while the men slept, the cattle broke out of the holding pens and ate poisonous bushes surrounding the hills.

In the morning the men woke to find all the cattle were dead. The men fled in fear. The area was called Bullock Bones Hills after that incident, which later became Bullock Hills."

Breeding Policy

Established on Hamelin Park bloodlines in 1995, the focus of the Bullock Hills Simmental stud is to produce seed stock cattle which perform in a typical Western Australian commercial environment. A short coat, eye hooding and above all, docility are essential characteristics for our cattle.

Longevity requires athleticism, conformation and correct foot structure. Profitability is governed by fertility, ease of calving, muscularity and fat content in a carcass.

We believe we are producing the cattle to meet your expectations.
